The current rate and extent of global warming is exceptional compared to pre-industrial times. It is becoming increasingly clear that climate change will increase the duration and intensity of extreme events, with serious consequences for people, economies and natural ecosystems. Limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C is critical to averting the worst risks associated with a warming climate. As a response, it is critical to investigate possible future changes in climate variables such as temperature and precipitation, which should pose a major challenge to stakeholders in managing regional catastrophic hazards, preventing severe impacts, and developing adaptation plans.
Each station has equipment to measure the state of the atmosphere and soil. Ground-based instruments measure wind speed and direction, humidity, air temperature, solar radiation and precipitation. Measure soil temperature and moisture at a specific depth underground.
