Burla, 12 August 2024: As part of TPWODL’s commitment to the society, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) department has successfully established an Automatic Weather Station (AWS) specifically to serve the farmers of Baduapalli village in Maneswar district of Sambalpur. Mr. Parveen Verma, CEO, TPWODL today inaugurated an “Automatic Weather Station” at Baduapalli village in Maneswar area of Sambalpur district.
This state-of-the-art facility is designed to support local farmers by providing accurate, real-time weather data to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability. Field studies among farmers were also organized to promote organic farming. TPWODL will conduct training sessions to enable local farmers to effectively use data to improve their farming strategies.
An automatic weather station (AWS) is a facility equipped with various sensors and instruments used to measure and record data such as weather forecasts, humidity levels, temperature trends and other important meteorological information. Farmers will have access to weather forecasts in advance, allowing them to make decisions.
Increased productivity, reduced risk and smart agriculture benefit more than 3,000 farmers participating in the project.
The data generated by the automatic weather station is analyzed and agricultural recommendations based on these data are communicated to farmers through WhatsApp groups on a daily basis for easy understanding and use by farmers.
The CEO of TPWODL also released a booklet on organic farming methods, diversified and intensive farming methods.
This initiative will be in line with TPWODL’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility to promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life in the communities it serves.
