HONDE has more than a decade of experience developing and improving instruments for sensitive radar sensors, and this knowledge has enabled the company to design radar solutions capable of measuring fluid surface velocity in open channels.

Our cutting-edge solutions provide accurate average surface velocity readings over the radar beam coverage area. It can measure surface velocities from 0.02m/s to 15m/s with a resolution of 0.01m/s.

Open channel drainage measuring device

HONDE’s intelligent measuring device calculates the total flow rate by multiplying the underwater cross-sectional area of the channel by the average flow rate.

If the geometry of the channel cross section is known and the water level is accurately measured, the underwater cross section area can be calculated.

In addition, the average velocity can be estimated by measuring the surface velocity and multiplying by the velocity correction factor, which can estimate or accurately measure the monitoring site.

Low maintenance monitor for water treatment operations

HONDE’s non-contact instruments can be installed on water without any professional construction work, and existing structures, such as Bridges, can be used as installation sites for added convenience.

All of our smart devices can automatically compensate for the Angle of inclination, so there is no need to adjust the Angle of inclination perfectly during installation.

With no contact with water, the instruments are easy to maintain, while the low energy required to operate means they can be powered by batteries.

HONDE offers a data logging system with GPRS/LoRaWan/Wi-Fi connection for real-time remote monitoring. The instrument can also be easily integrated with third-party data loggers via industry-standard protocols such as SDI-12 and Modbus.

The flood-proof IP 68 housing ensures a maintenance-free permanent operation. The Radar Doppler Surface Flow Sensor can be interfaced to either our Water Level Gauge or to the Advanced Field controller. For applications where directional surface flow information is needed, a dual Radar Doppler Surface Flow Sensor set and an additional software module are necessary.
