HONDE has introduced millimeter Wave, a compact radar sensor that provides high-precision, repeatable level measurement and is compatible with a full range of level controllers. This means that customers can choose between millimeter wave radar and dB ultrasonic measurement without having to make any compromises in terms of functionality – they choose the right control solution and simply pair it with the applicable measurement technology.
HONDE is a global leader in contactless level measurement, working in several countries around the world. The success of the business is built on reliable, repeatable measurement systems that make measurements that are difficult or seemingly impossible, such as deep and cluttered sewage wet Wells or dusty grain silos, a reality.
Radar and non-contact ultrasonic measurement are complementary non-contact measurement techniques, both of which measure levels through signal analysis, but each has advantages in different situations. In extreme cases of temperature changes or changes in gas composition, as well as fog, haze, fog or rain, radar is preferred, so users can now bring the complex control of pulsars into new applications. Millimeter wave radar is a frequency-modulated continuous wave transducer with a range of 16 meters and an accuracy of ±2mm. Compared to pulse radar systems, radar has significant advantages – higher resolution, better signal-to-noise ratio and better target recognition.
A major benefit for customers is that mmwave sensors are compatible with existing controllers already installed and used in the field, meaning that the field can retrofit radar sensors in existing applications, redeploy equipment in a wider range of applications for maximum flexibility, or test the performance of different measurement technologies without significant reconfiguration of equipment.
Now, millimeter wave radar allows us to extend this approach to new markets and new applications.”
